Ms. Kim- Kindergarten
Aloha!
I am Ms Kim and I am happy to be teaching the Kindergarten class again this year. This is my seventh year at Kihei Charter School and fourth year as the kindergarten teacher.
I have been working with children for over twenty years and enjoy fun, hands on activities that will help each child develop a love of learning. I earned my Bachelor's degree in 2007 from Oregon State and in 2015, I received my teaching license and Master's degree from Chaminade University.
I live on a farm in Kula with my husband and our amazing two children, two year old son Riley and a six year old daughter Emilee. I love spending time with my family hiking, playing tennis, photography, and relaxing at the beach. I have always known I wanted to be a teacher and make a difference in the lives of children. I enjoy taking on challenges, and working hard to figure out the best way to solve them. I firmly believe that children are our future and deserve the best opportunities that we can give them. I am excited about meeting and getting to know each of my students and their families. We are going to have an amazing year of learning!

Crystal Gresham - 3rd Grade
Aloha! I'm Ms. Crystal and I'm thrilled to be teaching the 3rd grade class this year. This will be my fourth year teaching here at Kihei Charter School. Before joining the Kihei Charter team, I was an educational assistant and substitute teacher for over 3 years at a small town elementary school in Missouri.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Drury University a private liberal arts university located in Springfield Missouri. There I earned my Bachelors of Art degree in general education with departmental distinctions in psychology.
When I am not at school I enjoy time outside on our beautiful island with my husband and 2 boys. We look forward to family adventures, lazy days on the beach, surfing and hiking.
I believe as a teacher I must motivate, inspire, and encourage my students to strive for success. The purpose of education is to help students prepare for the real world by helping them become independent citizens and by providing them with knowledge needed for future careers. Education is the foundation of success and is a lifelong learning process.
I look forward to working with everyone and enjoying another school year!

Daniel Wheat - 4th Grade
Aloha!
I am excited to join the KCS Ohana as a 4th Grade teacher! I began teaching in 2006 after graduating from Purdue University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. Additionally, I earned a M.A. and Gifted/Talented license from Ball State University.
I have taught in both traditional and charter public schools, including a project-based learning school. I am passionate about providing all students with high quality educational opportunities and have enjoyed using inquiry-based curriculum that included deeper learning projects, Socratic discussions, and cooperative learning. I believe that every student should have access to authentic, meaningful, and fun learning.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, being outdoors, playing sports, and reading. During the sport seasons, you’ll find me rooting for the Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Raiders, and the Purdue Boilermakers!

Bridget Hogan - 4th Grade
Aloha! I'm Ms. Bridget and I'm excited to return as the fourth grade teacher! This will be my fourth year teaching fourth grade at Kihei Charter School. Before teaching, I was the educational assistant at both the elementary and middle schools.
I graduated in 2010 from University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in English. There, I wrote for the school newspaper and participated in Semester at Sea. I then worked as a kids' club leader at a resort in Saipan, where I met my husband. We moved to his home country of Korea and I taught English and Kindergarten for three years (and adopted our sweet dog, Prim). We moved to Maui in December of 2014 and I quickly found my place at KCS. I had my daughter, Kaia, in February 2017 and I am absolutely loving life as a new mom.
I love watching young minds change and grow and I have the energy and warmth that works so well with elementary school children. KCS is a wonderful school and I am so happy to be employed here! I can't wait to share my excitement with all of you!

K - 8 Lead Teacher
7th Grade Math Facilitator
K - 8 Lead Teacher
7th Grade Math Facilitator
Aloha!
I have been at Kihei Charter School since 2010. I will be teaching 5th grade math, science, engineering and gardening. In addition, I will be the lead teacher of the elementary school.
I earned a bachelor's degree in pure mathematics from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and a minor in liberal studies.
I have a teaching certification in kindergarten through sixth grade as well as a certification with PLTW (Project Lead the Way) which includes Design and Modeling, Automation and Robotics, and Energy and Environment.
During my time with KCS, I have spent much time engaging students with hands-on activities, project-based learning and outdoor field studies. Students learn better when they are challenged to work on tasks on their own with a teacher as their coach. I strongly support developing student skills to be successful in a 21st century environment.
I am married and have two sons and one daughter (all three are KCS students). In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, snorkeling, gardening, and cooking. I also enjoy working on math problems and crossword puzzles.
I am always excited to meet new students and families as well as reacquaint with those returning. Please feel free to contact me anytime for questions, comments or concerns.

Travis McReynolds
Fifth Grade Math & Science
Aloha!
My name is Travis McReynolds. I am the Fifth Grade math and science teacher at Kihei Charter Elementary School. This is my first year at KCES. Last year I was a Fifth Grade teacher at Kahului Elementary School. This is my second year as a full time educator.
I was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. I graduated from Missouri State University, earning my bachelors degree in education. Before earning my bachelors degree, I worked as an Activities Director for before/after school programs and summer camps.
In sixth grade, a few of my friends and myself made a pact to one day move to Maui. During the summer of 2016 my friends and I moved to Maui and worked on several farms on the island. Solidifying Maui as the place I wanted to call home. Once the summer was over I headed back to Missouri to finish my degree. After graduating, I headed back to Maui to begin my career as an educator. So now I find myself in the exact place I wanted to be, living on Maui and working at a school where creativity, collaboration, and learning are celebrated.
Please feel free to contact me anytime!
