Dear First-Grade ‘Ohana,
There is no school on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10 because of conferences. Friday, March 13 is a noon dismissal. Spring conferences are optional. I sent an email with a sign-up genius to those of you I was hoping to meet with next week. If you received my email, please sign up for a time on Tuesday.
IXL homework for the week is as follows, and is due on Friday, March 13 by 8:00 a.m.
Math: K4 (Comparing Numbers up to 100 Using Words), M3 (Place Value Models up to 100)
Language Arts: L2 (Complete the Word with the Right Short Vowel), N2 (Complete the Silent E Words)
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Whale Watch last week! I was amazed at how many active whales we were able to see!
In the Classroom:
Our Hawaiian word last week was Aloha, so we practiced many ways to show our aloha. In Language Arts, we studied the fairy tale of The Three Little Pigs and read many versions of the story to discern differences between Fairy Tales and Fractured Fairy Tales. We also studied the -ur/-er words and words beginning with -scr. In math, we worked on greater than, less than and had fun playing the card game War in centers. In science, we studied simple and compound leaves. In hula, we continue to learn new steps and will be choosing a song and practicing it after Spring Break for May Day on May 15. If you would like to help with any part of May Day, please let me know.
Aloha, Ms. Emily
