Dear First-Grade ‘Ohana,
I really loved seeing everyone’s pics for Spirit Week last week, and especially loved the hula videos! I think everybody misses seeing each other in person during this time. This is difficult for me as well! I keep reflecting on the last day for Spring Break, and that my thoughts were on enjoying the week off of school and my upcoming trip to California! It’s been strange and sad for me to come to the realization that I won’t be seeing my first-grade kiddos this year in school!
I just want to say thank you for a great school year! You all have a very special place in my heart, and made me feel welcome at KCS. I look forward to when things return to our new normal, and I may see you out and about in the community this summer, or next school year!
I have emailed everyone a schedule of this week's virtual work. It seemed like connecting the Zoom Circle time meeting to the calendar worked well for everyone last week. I have done that again as well as posted the time. Hopefully this will make it more clear to anyone who wants to join the meeting.
I also have an additional Zoom meeting this week on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m listed in the calendar. The purpose of this meeting is to focus on regrouping using Legos. If your student would like to attend the meeting, please have them make groupings of their Legos before the meeting. For example, all of the ones would be together, all of the twos in another pile, etc. We don't need any Legos higher than 10 for the lesson. If your child does not have Legos, they can still join us and watch the creations their classmates make, or draw some ideas during the lesson. Lastly, I am going to try Zoom office hours one more time this week. The meeting is linked in the calendar I sent out. This is a time for any parent who has questions to have some face-to-face time with me. Last week no on attended, but it also was not linked in the calendar. I thought I would try one more time this week to see if this is something that is of value, or if just individual questions through email is a better form of communication.
We are continuing to take daily attendance for virtual work this week. Please make sure your child does the work provided in the calendar to get marked present for attendance, especially IXL and Smarty Ants as well as emailing me pics of journal entries. We will also continue to mark work as collected, missing or incomplete in PowerSchool. Please try your best to keep up with the daily assignments, and let me know if you have any questions.
I look forward to meeting with the children on Google Meet on Friday! Please check your email for your time from me. This week we will be discussing the book The Mermaid by Jan Brett. Please come prepared by making sure you have read the book and done the assignments
Aloha, Ms. Emily
