No school Friday April 19th in observance of Good Friday, enjoy the 3 day weekend!
Starting Monday April 15, 2019 students will participate in the Smarter Balance State Test. Students have been reviewing and will continue to review over the course of this week in math and literacy. Our class will start by participating 2 hours a day in the morning followed by lunch and a light afternoon next week. Please make sure your student arrives to school on time with a full breakfast. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me via email.
This week students are being sent home with a math review packet for homework. Students should complete the packet and return it Friday morning April 12th. Please check below under weekly homework for a suggested daily completion list.
Due to the review and upcoming test we will not have new spelling words this week.
We are excited to announce that we will be continuing the tradition of our May Day Ho’ike that will take place on Friday, May 10th. The festivities will take place at our school campus and we invite all parents and friends to come and partake in our celebration of the Hawaiian arts and culture.
We are also very proud to announce our 2019 May Day court. These students were chosen by their teachers to represent their class and a Hawaiian Island based on their academic standings as well as their yearly behavior performance.

Reminders:
Our school is officially collecting box tops. Start collecting and send them in.
This Week At A Glance:
This week we will begin our geometry unit. We will continue to review all math concepts we have learned over the course of the year.
We will be looking at comparing multiple sources in literacy to answer questions and write an informative essay, while reviewing our reading and writing tools.
In social studies students will continue to work with their partners practicing for their brief culture presentation. Presentations will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Make sure to ask your student about the culture they have looked up.
Weekly Homework
Students are encouraged to work in programs such as Prodigy and Freckle for additional math and literacy skills practice.
Reading – Students should read at home for at least 20 min.
Spelling – No spelling words this week.
