Aloha Families,
The week of September 30th - October 4th we will hold our first parent teacher conferences. Students in grades K-6 will be dismissed at noon each day that week. There will not be aftercare during this week. If you have not signed up please make sure to review the email I sent and sign up this week for your students conference. I look forward to speaking with everyone then.
If your student was absent on picture day, retakes are scheduled for November 15th.
In The Classroom:
This week in math we will begin to look at subtracting three and four digit numbers. Students will continue to practice “borrowing” numbers from the tens and hundreds place values when needed to solve the problem. In addition we will continue reviewing addition strategies as well as the addition properties, even and odd numbers and estimating in order to prepare for the end of the unit test to be held next week. Your student can do a little review and enhance what they know with IXL lessons A.2, C.4, C.7 and C.16 at home if you wish.
In literacy we will read the last story in our current book I Survived, Extreme Weather by Laurn Tarshis. This week students will read about a hurricane. Students will focus on learning the cursive letter e & l and we will focus on pronouns during our weekly grammar lessons.
This week students will complete their early European explorers partner activity. Remember this activity focuses on explorers and their voyage journey, goals and results.
We will have our spelling test this week on Friday. Please look below for a copy of this week's words. Please have your student practice at home if additional practice is needed each week.
