Hale Ho‘ike‘ike! What an amazing place! I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Today you will research something you saw at the museum (or anything from Hawaii). Choose something, google it, and write a few sentences about it on this shared Research Grid Doc. You can use one direct quote and then summarize the other info. This is a good chance to practice our research skills for Teach Us Time and our later Hawaiian Site Building Project.
Some ideas to research:
- Hale Ho’ike’ike
- the house as a school
- Mr. Bailey
- Bailey's paintings
- games
- the kitchen
- Hawaiian flag
- lei
- native plants
- Hawaiian royalty
- koa wood
- kapa cloth
- surf
- canoeing
- petroglyphs
- Any other Hawaiian artifact, person, time, place, god/dess, whatever!
I will be available on the Doc but chat is ONLY for questions to me.
Next, complete up to 70 SmartScore V.1 on IXL. You can do this after school, which is a good time for some iReady! Ninety minutes in a row is too much for Sunday!
Third, try to find small items with different shapes and textures. Bring in stencils if you have some! We will be doing an art project with a special guest tomorrow and it will be about geometry, tracing, and details. We will talk about this more in class. Bring them in today so we can get better ideas. We will use them tomorrow.
Last, make a decision about your Teach Us Time lesson. Try to think of two questions you can research about your topic and add it to the table on the Doc.
