This Wednesday we will be taking the HSA Science test. We will eat lunch at the elementary school, travel to the middle school and begin the test by 1 pm. Pick up will be held at the middle school at 2:30.
Your book presentations last week were wonderful! You all worked so hard and gave such great speeches. I am very impressed but not surprised! Your self-directive skills really improved last week! Please save anything you felt proud of so that we can use it for Exhibitions!
Homework this week: please complete 1.5 hours of iReady reading. Try to read everyday and log it on your Reading Log paper. Remember, if we all read 5 days a week, we will be finished by April 1st, and we will have an April Fool’s Day reading celebration!
Monday VIRTUAL
First, play this food web game. Click and drag the arrows from the predator to its prey. Then, the arrow will point to where the energy flows. For example, the skunk eats the plant so the arrow will point from the plant to the skunk. When all the arrows are placed, click next, read the text, and write your answer in just a few sentences on a piece of lined paper. Bring this in as credit for Virtual Monday.
Next, watch The Living Cells (19:38) on Discovery Education. On the same lined paper, write a list of the NINE “cell-ebrity” panelists. Pause the video at 3:53. Then, pause at 8:51 and draw a quick picture of the plant and animal cells. Also, what are two organelles found in plant cells but not animal cells? You do NOT need to take any other notes but keep in mind, this video can help you on the HSA Science test this week!
Last, make your own “Week 22” Google Doc. Choose 5 difficult spelling words, look up and type the definition, AND make a sentence using AT LEAST one adjective or adverb in each sentence. Don't forget to share it with me!
If you have not finished No Red Ink, please do so today. With any remaining time, work on iReady and read your book! Don’t forget to study all your spelling words!
EDIT (10:00): If you finish everything quickly, please click on the link below and practice the "HSA Science Grades 4 and 8 Training test." This will help you get used to the format of the upcoming test. There are 16 questions. Take short notes on questions you do not understand so that we can go over them in class tomorrow!
Tuesday, 8:55-2:35
Please bring in your book logs so I can collect them to save until Exhibitions. Also bring in your sheet of paper from Monday Virtual.
We will be working on the HSA Practice in class but if you want to try it out at home, please go to this link, sign in as Guest, choose 4th grade, and select the green rectangle that says, "Start HSA Science Grade 4 Practice Test." We will do that one in class so you can also try "Start HSA Science Grades 4 and 8 Training Test" to get even more practice!
