Today you have 6 assignments.
First, complete three IXL Math lessons: J1, J4, and J5. Log in with your username and password, which can be found in the back of your planner. Try to get a Smart Score of at least 70 (but get 100 if you can!). These three assignments should take about 2 hours to complete. Do not spend more than 3 hours trying them. If you are struggling, email me and let me know.
Second, make a table for your Bar Graph question. Use what you learned on J1 to make a clear, nice table. Then, make a rough draft of a bar graph for your question. You should use graph paper if you have it but you don’t have to. We will make a final draft in class tomorrow and it will be graded based on THIS rubric.
Third, complete two IXL Language Arts lessons: E1 and E2. Again, try to get a Smart Score of at least 70 and don't forget to log in! This should not take you more than 1 hour.
Fourth, go to wehewehe.org (Hawaiian dictionary website, “wehewehe” means “to explain, to define”). Pick 3 English nouns and type them one at a time in the search box and find the Hawaiian translation. Use the first translation (usually just one word). Go to THIS shared Google doc and type (or paste) the words in English and Hawaiian. I will be available by chat on this doc but remember, it is for questions to me only. Try to use DIFFERENT words than your classmates!
Fifth, watch THIS video about the Moa Nalo and read HERE about fossils found in Hawaii (click through all 6 pages). You do not need to take notes, just remember what you read.
Last, find something you want to “fossilize.” In Hawaii, most fossils are shells so that would make the best fossils but you may bring in small plastic toys if you wish.
PARENTS: To do this activity (on Wednesday), I will need a flour and salt along with small mixing bowls (paper should be fine) and wax paper for the tables. If each student could bring in 1 cup of flour and salt mixed together (about half a cup of each), that would be perfect. If you able to provide more, please email me. Students can bring in supplies tomorrow so I can see what I will still need. Mahalo!
Don’t forget to study your spelling words for tomorrow’s first spelling test!
