My goodness 3rd quarter has flown by. Between going on a beach cleanup, winning 3rd place in the Art of the Sphere Contest, and experiencing an AMAZING whale watch field trip, 3rd quarter was a blast for sure! Please review next weeks K-5 student schedule below for important dates and reminders.

Math
Last week in Math class we started our Fractions unit. We reviewed fraction equivalence and ordering using different types of fraction models . This week students will learn how to compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators. They will record their comparison results using symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions.

Science:
Last week in science class we started our Life Science Unit. We reviewed how organisms meet their basic needs in different environments. This week students will learn about different adaptations(structural, behavioral, & physiological) that organisms have to help them to meet their basic needs and survive in their environment.
NGSS Science Standards, 4th Grade:
4-LS1-1. Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.
4-LS1-2. Use a model to describe that animals receive different types of information through their senses, process the
information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways.
