Aloha First-Grade 'Ohana,
I hope you are enjoying the three-day weekend!
The IXL homework for the week of November 12 is as follows.
Math: A7 (Skip Counting by Fives), D3 (Complete the Addition Sentences)
Language Arts: D2 (Identifying Each Sound in a Word), FF4 (Sorting Common and Proper Nouns)
Extra Practice in Math: C3 (Adding Three)
All IXL homework is due on Friday, November 15 by 8 a.m.
In the Classroom: This week we will beginning a bottle cap reusing project. Bottle caps can not be recycled, so we will be collecting all types of cleaned bottle caps to make into a mural for the classroom. We will be collecting bottle caps for the entire month of November. Please help us out with this project and send in your bottle caps! Mahalo! One of the KCS seniors, Ashley Rodriguez, will be helping us with this project and will come in to do a presentation about reusing common items this week in class. Thank you Ashley!
Also, I will be processing scholastic book club orders on Thursday, Nov. 21. Please put your orders in before this date if you would like to order any books for your children. This is a great way to get new books for your keiki that follow their interest. It is also a great way for us to get free books for our class! You can also see books I have recommended for the class, as well as our class wish list. WE WILL ONLY BE DOING ONLINE ORDERS FOR SCHOLASTIC. Our class code is W6L4V. Books can be ordered through the scholastic.com Web site. Please let me know if you have any questions, and happy reading!
As a reminder, it's the seasons of flus and colds! There has been several children out sick in the last couple of weeks and we will be talking about hand washing and hygiene this week to prevent the spread of germs. If your child is sick, please keep them home. School work can be made up for absences, but coming to school sick most likely prolongs the sickness as well as spreading germs to other keiki. Mahalo for your kokua!
Aloha, Ms. Emily
