Read the following info carefully: Students will arrive at 9 am in a black shirt and board shorts or a sarong. You do not need to bring your backpacks; just bring something for the pa’ina if you can. It would be great for you to bring enough for the 4th grade students and their parents to have a little sample of your local treat. Please also bring a list of ingredients. Families should arrive at 10 am. You may want to bring a blanket or low-backed chairs to sit on the grass (we have a shade structure). Parents can bring food at this time; we have a small fridge and microwave if needed. The fourth graders will perform their awesome ukulele skills in two songs. They have worked very hard with Ms. Pomai and this will be a moment not to be missed! The performances will end at 11:30. Lunch will be offered but we will have our end of the year pa’ina right after. Families are invited to join in! Class will be dismissed after the luncheon, around 12:30 or 1 pm. There will be no regular class or KYC on Friday. The yearbooks have arrived! Be sure to pay at the middle school as soon as possible if you want one! Homework over the weekend: Make sure your comic is COMPLETE. I will give you your last 3 pages today. This will be due Tuesday! Today you have 3 assignments. Practice your songs while you work!!! Learn Hawaii Pono’i! PLEASE ALSO BRING YOUR HISTORIC SITE BACK TO SCHOOL IF YOU HAVE IT AT HOME AND ANY OTHER SUPPLIES THAT YOU NEED TO BUILD IT.
With any remaining time, work on your final quotes and summaries for your chapters in your comic book. Here are ours for 25, 26, 27, and 28. You should only need to do chapter 29 if you have been staying on task. All pages will be due Tuesday (there will be some time on Monday virtual). Chapter 25 I could feel his heart beating but it beat only twice, very slowly… but then no more. MAKE YOUR OWN SUMMARY Ch 26 Karana saw some wild dogs and noticed one looked like Rontu so she tried to bait him. She used tobacco and ground sea shells and put it in the spring. Rontu’s son drank it, fell asleep, and then soon became part of her life. “I called him Rontu-Aru, which means Son of Rontu.” Chapter 27 “Like two giants they crashed against each other…In the red light of us on the spray that flew around them look like blood.” A tsunami occurred and Karana struggles to get to higher ground and later there were a ton of earthquakes. Chapter 28 “ I waded farther out through the waves, raising my arms to the ship. Slowly it moved away in the mist.” Karana saw a new ship and gathered her belongings but the ship left because she was too late. Announcements:
