Second, learn about the costs and benefits of living and trading (or bartering) in the ahupua’a.
- Play this bartering game “Fish and Poi”
- Try this fun ahupua’a quiz.
- Then, write a 5 sentence PARAGRAPH on our G classroom about what you learned about living and bartering in the ahupua’a. Try to answer at least 2 of these questions in your paragraph, especially the last two questions:
- How did the environment of Hawaii make it a challenge for Hawaiians to gather the fish & poi that they loved?
- Was it easy to farm, fish, and gather all the items a Hawaiian family needed?
- What did the Hawaiians do to improve the quality of the food they grew, gathered, and caught?
- How do you think they can solve this last problem of getting 'Fish & Poi?'
- What are the benefits of trading for food?
- What are the costs of trading for food?
Be sure to bring in your papers from Monday (especially the Ahupua'a workbook) and your cursive papers! Also make sure your Sand Volcano paper is complete so we can review them in class.
