Monday, Virtual
Today you have 5 assignments.
First, go to your email account and find your partner’s volcano doc. Use the paper I handed out in class on Thursday to complete your peer edit of your partner’s paper. You should:
- “Suggest” edits like spelling, grammar, and format mistakes. Change your edits to suggests in the top right corner of the doc, click on the pencil.
- Then, fill out the paper from class about the two body paragraphs. Use the PCQ format and find good and constructive notes to help your partner write a better essay. You may simplify the website names, don’t write the whole thing.
- Spend most of your time editing your partner’s two body paragraphs, you do not need to edit their introduction and conclusion.
- Bring in your paper to class so that you can give it to your partner. Do not forget to do this assignment and to bring in the paper because you are responsible for helping your partner create a better essay.
- When you finish all other assignments, you can go to your own doc and check the edits BUT please do NOT accept the edits yet because I need to see that the edits were done by each student.
- Email me if you have any questions.
Second, take out the two papers we did last week about Observations and Inferences. One is double sided and has a picture of penguins on it. The other is our Mystery Bags Lab. Complete both these papers and bring them in tomorrow.
- Complete the page with the penguins on them. Follow the directions and write in full sentences.
- Then, fill out the Assessment on the Mystery Bags paper. This will be graded as an at home test so take your time on it.
- Write in full sentences on both papers and do NOT forget to bring these papers in.
Third, complete E.4 and E.5 on IXL Math. This is dividing two digits by one digit.
- Some answers may have a remainder, which is when the number does not divide evenly. When there is no remainder, just enter 0 in the R box or leave it blank.
- Remember DMSB, Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Bring down.
- Use your notes from Friday and watch THIS video and try the assignments on the side of that webpage for more practice.
***Parents, I told the students that to understand division, they MUST know multiplication, specifically their math facts up to 12x12. If your student has not memorized this 3rd grade standard, now is the time to get them memorized. Make a plan with your student so master them. It is VERY important.
Fourth, finish the last of your rough drafts. You should have three left if you have been working on time. Here are the final ones:
- P, W, ‘okina,
- I, O, U,
- L, M, N,
- ‘Okina, A, E,
- U, H, K,
- N, P, W,
- E, I, O,
- K, L, M,
- W, ‘okina, A,
- O, U, H,
- M, N, P,
- A, E, I,
- H, K, L,
- P, W, ‘okina,
- I, O, U,
- L, M, N,
- ‘Okina, A, E,
- U, H, K,
- N, P, W
Fifth, watch THIS video about Makahiki. Makahiki is a season in old Hawaii of four months of agricultural bounty and when war was outlawed. It was a time of celebration, games, and offerings to Lono. Then, read THIS webpage and pick your favorite Makahiki game. Answer the question about it on our G Classroom.
With any remaining time, study for your spelling test. You may also start working on your HAB final drafts, do extra iReady to get on track, and work on your Volcano Doc's introduction and conclusion (but do NOT accept the suggestions yet!).
DO NOT FORGET TO BRING IN YOUR THREE ROUGH DRAFTS, TWO SCIENCE PAPERS, AND VOLCANO DOC EDITING PAPER! That’s (at least) 6 papers total and you should put them somewhere easy to find in your backpack, like the front of your binder, because we will look at all of these tomorrow. If you forget, you WILL be marked down for this.
