If, for some reason, you are not happy with your 5-paragraph fall break essay, be sure to check it now because I am finishing grading them today and you will review them tomorrow.
HOMEWORK THIS WEEK: 1 hour of iReady READING due Sunday, 11/12.
Monday, Virtual
Today you have 6 assignments.
- Search online for a story about Maui the demi-god. Read the story, take notes and write down what website you used in your journal on a new page titled “My Maui Story.” Be ready to share your story with the class this week. You will recite your story casually, in your own words, like Ms. Pomai did on Friday! So learn your story and practice saying it in your own way. This should take about 1 hour.
--- Phrases you can use to search: Maui demigod, Maui stories, Maui myths, Maui legends, or use ideas from “You’re Welcome” and “Hawaiian Super Man” - Go to THIS website and read all the Hawaiian proverbs. Pick one that is important to you and make a poster to hang on the wall in the classroom!
— On the front, write your proverbs larger in Hawaiian and smaller in English. JUST USE PRINTER PAPER size or a bit bigger.
— On the back, write a paragraph that explains why you chose this, what it means to you, and examples of how you can use it in your life.
--- This is an art assignment so make it beautiful! It’s also a language arts and social studies assignment so make it meaningful! - Go to THIS shared doc and choose a canoe plant and a section of the research book you want to work on.
— Students will be finalized in groups by tomorrow and you will start your research tomorrow. - Think of a way to demonstrate weathering and erosion. Write up a plan of what landform you can demonstrate to the class and email me your idea. Be detailed! Search online for weathering and erosion labs or simulations for ideas! Have fun with this!
- IXL E9. Remember, this is simple (we solved a 900,000,000,000,000,000 number division problem in class on Thursday!) but it is long. Spend at least 1 hour on it and try for Smartscore 80. Use paper to write the problems down and do NOT use a calculator. Your multiplication table will be useful though.
- Interact with THIS website about Elements of a Story. Follow all the steps then take the test at the end and write your score in your journal. Explain which questions you got wrong (if you miss any!). Then watch a show or movie, read a book, or just think of a story you already know and write down the elements from that story in your journal. Yes, I’m telling you to watch something, but that’s only AFTER you finish everything else AND if your parents say it’s ok.
