Welcome to the 5th grade Language Arts/Social Studies Blog!
My name is Ms Leslie and I will be your 5th grade Language Arts & Social Studies teacher this year. Fifth Grade is a wonderful time in your life. You will experience many opportunities to achieve measurable accomplishments and success throughout the year. We will be working as a team to help ensure your continued development at Kihei Charter School. As a team, we will be working on learning to manage time, work cooperatively, develop good study habits, organize work, and strive to achieve to your highest potential.
I will post all necessary information, such as classwork, homework, and virtual work, on this blog for each day of the week. You should check both 5th grade blogs before the beginning of each week as well as daily. It is the student's responsibility to check the blogs.
Below is the schedule for the week of July 27 - 31.
July 27 9:00 - 11:00 Meet and Greet
July 28 No School
July 29 8:55 - 1:30 First day of school (bring a snack and lunch is served or bring home lunch) Wear your KCS logo t-shirt.
July 30 8:55 - 11:30 (bring a snack as no lunch is served)
July 31 Virtual Day - No face-to-face time (students will be assigned work)
Parents: On Monday 7/27, parents/guardians will be receiving a permission form packet to be filled out on that day. Your student may NOT go into the field if the packet is not filled out and returned. We would like all packets completed and returned no later than Monday, August 3.
Students should plan to go out in the field beginning next Tuesday, August 4. Information to follow.

In the coming weeks, you will receive logins for iReady, IXL, Discovery Education and Powerschool. It is very important that you store your login information in a safe, secure place. You will also receive a student planner to help you organize your assignments and necessary information.
