Aloha Families,
Please sign your students Book It tracking form and have your student submit these this week. I will pass out students awards for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut soon! Students will then be given a new tracking form for the month of November this week as well.
New Scholastic book order forms will go home this week. In order to receive books before the Thanksgiving break all orders should be submitted via the classroom online code which can be found on the back of the flyer by Tuesday November 12th.
Upcoming Field Trip:
Reminder we will be attending the Maui Farm on Thursday November 14, 2019 as the first field trip of the year! Students will participate in several different activities around the farm concluding with eating our packed lunches before returning to school. Transportation is being provided by KCS via a school bus for all students.
The cost of the trip will be a farm suggested $5.00 cash donation. Please have your student bring this to school with them on Thursday November 14, 2019. If you have any questions please let me know.
Mark your calendars there will be no school on Monday November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. In addition there will be no school on Thursday November 28th and Friday November 29th in observance of Thanksgiving.
Students will be released at noon on Wednesday November 27th, there will be no aftercare of KYC transportation that day.
The K-5 school exhibition will take place on Friday December 20th from 11:00am - 12:00pm all students will be released at noon, there will be no after care, or KYC transportation that day.
In The Classroom:
In math we will continue looking at measuring to the nearest half inch and fourth inch. Along with measuring liquid volume and mass. Students may choose to practice more at home using IXL BB.3 and BB.15.
We will continue reading our small group book Wishtree,by Katherin Applegate this week while continuing to examine reading key points. Students will work on a new Scholastic News issue while learning to order events in information texts, and our cursive letter this week will be y.
At Home:
Please make sure students read for at least 20 min. a day, and track the information on their Book It tracking forms.
We will have a spelling test on Friday. Please have students study as needed, please remember students are able to practice via the online program found at https://www.spellingcity.com/ if they would like.
