Aloha Families,
Welcome Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their time with their families over the long weekend.
Book order forms went home last week. These are a wonderful way to encourage your students reading! Please order via the online classroom code by Friday December 6th. I will place the classroom order then to ensure shipping before the holiday winter break.
Students should bring back their signed Book It forms this week. All students will receive new tracking forms for the month of December today.
Mark your calendars the K-5 school exhibition will take place on Friday December 20th from 11:00am - 12:00pm all students will be released at noon, there will be no after care, or KYC transportation that day.
In The Classroom:
This week students will be introduced to the Times Tales. The Times Tales are our first step to learning multiplication facts. This program uses mnemonic stories to trigger the memory when a set of facts are presented. This approach will appeal to visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. After students have been presented with the program we will ease our way into remembering our facts without the help of the program characters. Our main focus in math for the months of December and January will be multiplication, we will then continue to practice and learn our facts through spiral reviews for the rest of the year.
This week students will continue reading our small group read aloud Wishtree, while working on inference. Students will also continue to work on their writing providing complete full detailed sentences. In addition students will continue working with a Scholastic News magazine, learning non fiction information while working on their reading comprehension skills.
At Home:
Please make sure students read for at least 20 min. a day, and track the information on their Book It tracking forms.
Please have students study as needed, please remember students are able to practice via the online program found at https://www.spellingcity.com/ if they would like.
