Aloha Families,
Can you believe January is already over? Please have your students turn in their Book It papers with your signature on it this week for their pizza reward! New tracking sheets will be sent home today.
NO SCHOOL – Friday February 15th and Monday February 18th, I hope all students enjoy the 4 day weekend!
Students worked hard throughout January to beat the teacher and earn their Friendship Party. We will hold a Friendship party in our classroom on Thursday February 14, 2019. During this time students will be playing some themed games, watch A Charlie Brown Valentine, and have the opportunity to exchange friendship notes if they choose to participate.
Please note that if your student chooses to participate in the exchange they must have 24 equal notes for all students in the class. In addition to adhere to our health and wellness policy as well as being mindful to our friends with food allergies, students should not exchange anything edible. If a student would like to add a small trinket to their cards please note there are several fun alternatives such as pencils, erasers, bracelets and bubbles just to name a few. If you have any questions please let me know.
We are still collecting materials that could be used to aid students in building their invention models. Items such as paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, small boxes and jugs, empty containers, materials and rubber bands are just a few examples. Please feel free to send any items to class with your student.
It is time for our parent teacher conferences in 3rd grade! This will be the only official time for conferences for the year, but we can always meet together at a later time should the need arise.
This year, I am excited to say that our class will be hosting student led conferences. For the majority of your conference your student will lead the conversation sharing work samples, their goals and current progress. This is a great opportunity for your student to take responsibility for their education as well as a wonderful way to practice their communication skills. Conferences will be held the week of February 25, 2019. I will be sending out a link via email to the sign up form for days and times shortly. The listed days and times shown through the link will be the only available slots for the conferences, and it is my hopes that with enough notice everyone will find a slot that works best for their schedule.
This Week At A Glance:
We will continue to practice multiplication and division in our classroom, however this week we will begin to look at area and perimeter in our math lessons.
