This Week At A Glance:
This week we will continue to review our multiplication tables while learning about the distributive property of multiplication. In the following weeks we will switch gears to division however we will continue to review and practice multiplication facts throughout the year! Students have been given several strategies to understand and learn the tables, we now want to switch gears and practice for speed. Please help your students by reviewing multiplication tables as much as possible.
In reading we will review some of our literacy center expectations as well as begin our classroom novel The Merlin Missions, Monday with a Mad Genius. This book is a part of the Magic Tree House series and will introduce students to Leonardo Da Vinci. We will also be reading the Fact Tracker companion book allowing students to review a fiction and nonfiction book while learning additional facts about Leonardo Da Vinci’s life.
To accompany our literacy in science we will begin a unit on identifying what an engineer is and defining the engineering design process. Throughout this unit students will learn the steps of the design process and conclude with an invention of their own.
Weekly Homework
Reading – Students should read at home for at least 20 min. to work on earning their pizza for the month.
