Aloha Families,
This year for Halloween Thursday October 31, students may dress as their favorite character that day if they wish, but must follow all dress code guidelines. No masks or heavy make-up will be allowed. Students must be comfortable and able to participate during all classroom activities and recess outside. If you have any questions, please refer to the student handbook or let me know.
Please continue to encourage your student to read as much as possible at home, and remind them to fill in their monthly Book It tracking form. Students who submit the completed and signed forms at the beginning of November will receive an award for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut!
In The Classroom:
In math we will continue telling time to the minute, and begin looking at elapsed time this week. Upon completion, we will have a short quiz and move forward to measurement.
We will also continue our science unit on Weather and Climate. While continuing to learn information from the unit we will continue to learn and practice procedures and expectations of our classroom science stations.
This week in literacy we will begin our next small group read aloud novel, Wishtree by Katherin Appelgate. We will begin by previewing the book and learning a little about the culture trend of wishtrees. During our study students will be making their own classroom wishtree.
At Home:
Please make sure students read for at least 20 min. a day, and track the information on their Book It tracking forms.
We will have a spelling test on Friday. Please have students study as needed, please remember students are able to practice via the online program found at https://www.spellingcity.com/ if they would like.
