This month we are focusing on planets, including our own. This theme will also incorporate Earth Day into our learning. To help us with our understanding, we will be doing a PBL (Project-based Learning) project involving recycled materials. Our PBL project will be to use recycled materials to create a "junk-bot". Your child was sent home with a letter describing our project and what we need. Attached to the letter is your childs design for their robot. Please begin saving any recycled materials that your child could use for their project. If you have any questions or have more materials you wish to donate please let me know. Thank you
This week we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday with lots of activities and fun. If your child has any Dr. Seuss books that they would like to share with the class, please feel free to bring them in (just make sure their name is on the inner cover).
Today is the first day in over three weeks that we have had all of our students in class!! Yippy!! We are going to continue working hard in class to keep the nasty germs at bay by washing hands, wiping down the tables with cleaning wipes, using tissues for our noses, etc. Please watch your student for any symptoms of illness such as fever, stomach ache, ear ache, etc. Hopefully we can keep our students healthy for awhile.
This is also the time of year when we see an increase in uku cases (head lice). With the colder weather comes hoodies, hats, and jackets which can carry ukus and spread them from student to student. You can check out the Hawaii DOE website for more information and tips on how to keep ukus out.
With Valentine's Day approaching fast, I wanted to let parents know what we will be doing in class.
We will be passing out Valentine's in class, however please do not include any candy or sweets with your Valentine's.
If you would like your child to participate, please bring in 20 Valentine's with just your child's name for your student to pass out.
As a reminder, our field trip to the library and fire station is this Thursday from 9:30-11:30. Please arrive to the library by 9:15 and drop students back off at school at 11:30.
We have had several students these last few weeks forgetting their snacks. Please remember to pack your student a snack for the morning time as they get very hungry before lunch.
Have a great week!
Our LOST and FOUND bin is filling up fast! In an effort to keep our area nice and clean, we will be getting rid of any unclaimed items still in the LOST and FOUND on the last day of January. PLEASE go to the cafeteria and check the shelf for any sweaters, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. Any items still there by the end of next week will be tossed.
