If you were not able to attend the open house prior to the first day, here is a copy of the FAQ's that were given to families. I hope you find it useful in navigating our new campus.
FAQ's
Below are some answers to frequently asked questions that will assist parents and students with new campus protocols and procedures.
What are the drop off/pick up times for school?
Elementary - 8:15 – 2:15; Wednesday 8:15-1:15
Middle School – 8:30-2:30; Wednesday 8:30-1:30
High School – 8:45-2:45; Wednesday 8:45-1:50
Early drop off is 7:35; open lab pick up is 3:30 for MS, 3:45 for HS
What is the procedure for drop off/pick up?
Drop Off:
Students should be dropped off in front of school. Parents must NOT park in drop off lane.
Elementary students will line up on the mauka (east) side of the school. Students will line up by grade level and be escorted to their class by teachers or EA’s.
Elementary school students will line up and be escorted to class by teachers or EA’s. If your student arrives late, they must sign in at the front desk.
Students who are staying for breakfast should be dropped off in front of the school office. They will walk to the breakfast area from there.
Pick Up:
Pick up in front of school. Parents must not park and wait for student to be released. Traffic must be able to flow. Students will be waiting in the area where they were dropped off. Please do not park in the MRTC parking lot to wait for students.
There is a late pick at 3:45 for students K-3. Please let your child’s teacher know if they will be staying after school. Parens will sign out their child in the cafeteria.
KYC transportation is available for students in grades 4 through 8 after dismissal each day.
Students in grades 4 and above may stay in the computer lab to work on school assignments until 3:30. The lab is open when students are released and doors close after 15 minutes. Parents must pick up students promptly at 3:30 when lab closes. Students who are staying for open lab must let their advisor know to reserve space.
Parking
The parking area is for faculty and staff only. Parents may park on the street, or if visiting for a brief period may park in the loading zone during non-drop off/pick up times.
High school students may park on the street.
There is no parking in the MRTC parking lot.
Is breakfast available?
Breakfast is available from 7:40-8:30
How does my child pay for breakfast lunch?
Parents may pay for student lunches at the front desk. School lunch is $4.00; breakfast is $2.00.
What if I need to pick up my child early?
Parents must sign out their child if they need to leave early. Parents may not go directly to classes to pick up students.
No student may leave campus without a parent signing them out at the front office.
High school students on modified schedules must sign in and out at the front office.
Bike Riders
We understand that biking to school may be the only option of transportation for some students. Therefore, we ask that bikers use great caution while crossing the Piilani Highway and riding up Lipoa Parkway. There will be a bike rack on the east end of the campus.
