Aloha Kihei Charter School Parents & Guardians,
I am so excited to welcome you all back to school. Our administrators and support staff have been working throughout the summer break to help create a positive back to school experience for all of our students.
The first day of school is Monday, August 5. K through 6th grade arrival/dismissal times are 8:10-2:10.
School logo T-shirts are on sale now. All students in grades K through 8 are required to wear their school shirts daily.
Drop Off
Students in grades K-5 should meet on campus in the mauka grass quad area in front of the elementary classrooms. EA’s will be there to supervise from 7:30-8:10. Teachers will walk their students to class at 8:10.
6th Grade students will begin in the cafeteria promptly at 8:10 for a short assembly before being dismissed to classes.
Parents should drop their student off in front of the school. There is no parking as traffic must be able to flow. EA’s will be there to direct students to their respective meeting areas.
For parents of young students, you may park across the street and walk your child for the first day. There is no parking in the school parking lot as it is for faculty only.
Dismissal
Student in grades K-3 will be given a placard on the first day to be placed on the dash for pick up each day through the end of the school year. Teachers will walk their classes out each day. Kindergarten will wait on the far mauka side of the sidewalk and the respective grades will follow towards Makai. Grades 4-6 are dismissed near the front entrance of the school and will wait for parent pick up at that location.
There is no KYC transportation or open lab available on the first day of school. There will be aftercare until 3:30.
Parent Orientations
The parent orientations are scheduled during the following times. I encourage all of you to attend to learn about school/classroom expectations, volunteer opportunities, powerschool and other important information that will help to support our students this year. The dates/times are:
K-5 Tuesday, August 13 at 5:00pm
6th Grade Wednesday, August 14 at 5:00 pm
We will begin in the cafeteria and parents will then be directed to student classrooms.
I hope you all enjoy the last days of the break- we look forward to seeing you on Monday!
