I am really looking forward to the Whale Watch on March 5. If you have not turned in your permission slips yet, please do by Friday, February 28 along with $8 to the office, and $15 if you intend to chaperone the trip. Also, let me know if you plan to order lunch from the cafeteria that day so I can give the kitchen notice. We are really looking forward to a fun and educational trip! I know that the elementary group that went last week saw a lot of whales and I hope we will have the same luck.
Third Quarter Conferences are coming up on March 9 and 10. These conferences are optional. I have sent an email to the parents I would like to attend conferences on Tuesday, March 10. If you do not receive the email and would like to still meet with me, please email me and we can set up a time for Monday, March 9.
In the classroom:
Last week, the students took a math assessment on shapes. Please check Power School if you would like to see your child's grade on the assessment. This week we are working on forming numbers up to 100, based on groups of 10. In Language Arts, we worked on the word families of -ed/-ead as well as our vocabulary words for the week. We also worked on writing correct dates and organizing dates in order. This week, we will be reading The Big Bed by Bunmi Laditan. In science, we compared the rare phenomena of ice volcanoes to what we have learned about volcanoes.
