Welcome to our second week of our theme of Choose Love this month! Tuesday, February 11 is Institute Day, no school for keiki! Enjoy the day with your children.
This week the students do not need to wear their Kihei Charter T-shirts if they would like to follow our theme.
Monday is "Say Hello, Wear Yellow," or "Have Your Friends Back, Wear Black."
Wednesday is "Don't Be Mean, Wear Green."
Thursday is "Be True, Wear Blue."
Friday is "Only Kind Words are Said, Wear Red."
Friday, February 14 we will be having a card exchange in class. If you would like to bring in cards for the class, please bring in 22 un-labeled cards. Named cards for 22 students take too long to sort! Please do not bring any sweets or treats. Items like erasers, stickers, or pencils are great as well!
We would love to decorate paper bags to receive our cards and I am hoping someone would be willing to donate 22 paper bags to decorate. We also welcome any type of themed decorations for the bags EXCEPT GLITTER! Glitter is such a fun project at home, but is nearly impossible to clean up in a classroom. Please let me know if you are able to donate the bags, and send along any decorating supplies you would like.
Many of you have asked about volunteering for our upcoming Whale Watch on March 5. All volunteers are welcome, please just send me and email if you intend to chaperone. The cost is $8 per student and $15 per adult chaperone and can be paid to the office. I will be sending out waivers and more information next week.
Lastly, teachers "Choose Love" when they decide to teach. When we decorated our door for this theme, I asked all the students to put something they love about school on a heart and we taped them to the door. You are welcome to come check them out ! One student wanted to know what I would put on my heart and wanted to make a heart that spoke for me. My immediate response was "my students." Thank you so much for entrusting me with such a wonderful group of children this year! They truly make it easy for me to choose love everyday. Mahalo!
Aloha, Ms. Emily
